STEAMPUNK MODELLER VOLUME III

As seen above, my celestial sphere is on the cover of this salubrious publication, and leads the series of highly informative and entertaining articles therein, each one being about these magnificent creations and how they were constructed.

You can take a look at some of the book here, and order it here.

Do have a look, and if you should order a copy, do tell them I sent you!

Herr Döktor's World Tour Of Britain, well, England.

I'm going to be on the road in the coming months, travelling around England with some of my incredible inventions!

GEEKFEST

The first stop is the Nineworlds Geekfest at the Radisson and Renaissance hotels near London Heathrow, from August 9th-11th:

I'll be there to answer awkward questions about making and fabricating things, along with my good friends Miss Emilly Ladybird, jewelry maker, corset maker, and all round Domestic Goddess; Major Jack Union, Monster Hunter, author and raconteur, and a whole host of other guests and all-round good eggs.

THE ASYLUM

Then, on the now traditional weekend in September (the 13th-14th-15th), the largest gathering of Steampunks in Europe, possibly the World, THE ASYLUM! (just click on qabove picture to learn more)

What can I say about this event? Clearly nothing that will do it justice, you'll just have to come along and see for your self.

Steampunks in SPACE!

Onto November, where the 30th will see me at the National Space Centre, for the "Steampunks in SPACE!" event, along with the afore mentiond Miss Emilly Ladybird and Major Jack Union, there will be a number of other attractions, including the inimitable Count Rostov.

At these events you'll be able to see, first hand, the newest of my inventions, the Empire's Main Battle tripod tank, the "GLADSTONE", newly arrived on Mars to teach Johnny Martian a lesson:

Sorry about the picture, but it's all a bit- hush-hush, need to know, etc., you'll just have to come along and see it in person...

There are some more dates and details to be added, subject to arrangement, approval and the signing of contracts, possibly in blood.

Herr Doktor Steampunk IS NOT Herr Döktor's Laboratory!!

It has come to my notice, in the last few days, that an enterprising individual is selling items under the name of "Herr Doktor Steampunk": note the absence of the umlaut in his title; this is not me, nor are his items made by me- they have a website that comes up after this blog when you search "Herr Doktor", but not when you search "Herr Döktor", as well as a Facebook page and a Twitter account- do check for the "ö", and the name "Herr Döktor's Lab/Laboratory", it's the only guarantee that the Döktor is in!

Meanwhile, here are some of my 'in progress' works:

ROBOT PARROT

This is a modification of an existing "toy" robot parrot, stripped of it's feathers, and clad in plastic to represent metal plating- this is being made for a well-known author to promote one of his novels, should be finished within the week, after which I will show more of it and it's making.

"GLADSTONE" THREE-LEGGED TANK

Imagine, if you will, that after the failed Martian Invasion, the British Govt 'reverse-engineered' much of the captured Martian technology, and took the War of the Worlds back to Mars, using three-legged tanks of their own design:

Seen here on The Workbench of Considerable Untidiness, which here stands in for the ravaged surface of Mars.

And powered down, with all it's hatches open, and a small figurine at the access ladder, to give some idea of scale, which, is, by the way, 1/35th life-size.

MARTIAN WAR MACHINE

What's that coming over the hill? Is it a MARTIAN?

Well, yes: clearly it is. And a closer look at the head of the beast, in a slightly more complete form:

Hopefully have the Martian Dog Fight Double finished for the Surrey Steampunk Convivial in February...

The "Gentleman's Comfort"

A variation on Lady Raygun's "Lady Raygun", may I present the "Gentleman's Comfort"- a copper-coloured raygun with style and panache:

This pistol comes in an antique wooden box, with a screw on flash suppressor, and two tools.

And here it is, all together, in it's glory:

As usual, there is a label to explain certain points of care for this device:

A slight difference form the Lady Raygun: this version has an extra dial, this one showing the energy reserve, the one on the side showing Power in Roentgen:

Gave a whole thing a verdigris-like patina, most satisfactory!

And here it is with it's 'sister:
